Job Description

Male Support Worker - Swindon

Help Someone in Your Community Live Life Their Way

Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference every day?

At Lifeways, we're supporting a gentleman in Swindon to live an active, independent, and fulfilling life, and we're looking for a caring and enthusiastic Male Support Worker to join our friendly team.

This is much more than a care role. It's about building a positive relationship, sharing interests, encouraging independence, and helping someone enjoy the things they love most.

Whether you're experienced in support work or completely new to care, we'll provide all the training and support you need to succeed.

About the Person You'll Be Supporting

We're looking for someone who can bring patience, understanding, and a positive attitude to support an individual who enjoys:

  • Listening to music from the 70s and 80s
  • Singing along to favourite songs
  • Watching classic films, including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
  • Going for drives and exploring the local area
  • Short walks and spending time out in the community
  • Healthy home-cooked meals
  • Social interaction and meaningful conversations

The ideal support worker will enjoy building connections, sharing interests, and helping someone feel valued, listened to, and supported.

What You'll Be Doing

Every day is different, but your role may include:

  • Supporting with daily living tasks and routines
  • Encouraging confidence and independence
  • Supporting access to local activities and community events
  • Accompanying appointments and outings
  • Preparing healthy meals
  • Helping maintain hobbies and interests
  • Providing emotional support, companionship, and encouragement

Most importantly, you'll help someone live the life they choose while remaining connected to their local community.

What We're Looking For

You don't need previous care experience. If you have the right attitude and values, we'll teach you the rest.

We're particularly interested in people who are:

  • Caring, patient, and compassionate
  • Confident communicators
  • Able to remain calm and positive in challenging situations
  • Willing to learn new skills and approaches
  • Reliable and committed to making a difference
  • Team players who can also work independently
  • Happy to bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the team

A full UK driving licence is highly desirable, as the person we support enjoys regular drives and community outings.

Experience supporting people with behaviours of concern or Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) knowledge would be beneficial, although full training will be provided.

Working Hours

Part-Time - 22.5 Hours Per Week

Shifts include:

  • 07:00 - 14:30
  • 14:30 - 22:00
  • 07:00 - 22:00

Flexibility to work weekends is required.
