Information Governance Officer
We are looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Information Governance Officer to join our team. In this role, you will support the delivery and ongoing management of Lifeways’ Information Governance (IG) framework, working closely with the Data Protection Officer (DPO).

Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to, and deputise for, the Data Protection Officer (DPO) where required
- Deliver data protection and information governance training across the organisation
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on Data Protection, advising the business on complex queries
- Support and respond to Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs)
- Manage day-to-day IG queries, including oversight of the DPO mailbox
- Assist in maintaining and promoting policies, standards, and best practices in information compliance
- Support compliance with UK data protection legislation
- Manage and investigate data breaches and support wider security incidents
- Contribute to the development and delivery of the Information Governance Strategy
- Support and manage Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
- Compile reports and statistics relating to IG activities
Audit, Compliance & Projects
- Lead and deliver the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) assessment
- Develop and maintain an ISO audit programme, including managing corrective actions
- Manage allocated projects, ensuring delivery to agreed timelines
- Maintain accurate records of breaches, data requests, and data sharing decisions
- Provide guidance on data sharing requirements and best practices
Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of UK data protection legislation (including UK GDPR)
- Experience working within an Information Governance or Data Protection role
- Experience managing DSARs, DPIAs, and data breaches
- Understanding of NHS DSPT and/or ISO audit frameworks
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deliver training and influence stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience acting as an SME or advisor within a business environment
