Job Description

The role

Our aim is to make working at Lifeways Group a great experience. Our HR colleagues play a vital role in helping our people and organisation succeed by working in partnership to create a person-centred culture that supports our vision and ambitions.

Reporting to our Head of HR, you’ll partner closely with regional leadership and operational management teams across Scotland, taking ownership of the regional people agenda and ensuring our people strategy translates into meaningful operational outcomes.

This is a hands-on, influential role where you’ll be much more than an HR point of contact. You’ll be a trusted partner to regional leaders, challenging thinking, influencing decisions and helping shape how we develop our teams, improve quality and build a high-performing workforce.

Employee relations will form a significant part of your role, with a focus on complex and high-risk cases, investigations and challenging people matters. We operate a tiered HR model, with our HR Advisors managing day-to-day transactional ER, allowing you to concentrate on more complex cases while supporting managers to build their capability and confidence.

We’ve made significant progress in strengthening our employee relations approach, and there is still more to achieve. This makes it an exciting time to join us, contribute fresh ideas and help us continue to improve.

Alongside ER, you’ll work in partnership with regional leaders to drive key people priorities, including talent development, workforce planning, employee engagement, performance management, organisational effectiveness, diversity and inclusion, and change management. You’ll use your commercial understanding and people expertise to help leaders make informed decisions that benefit both colleagues and the wider business.

You’ll have the autonomy to manage your diary and balance service visits with home working, giving you the flexibility to organise your time around regional priorities and business needs.

The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and experience

  • Strong HR Business Partnering experience, with the confidence and credibility to influence senior stakeholders and drive the people agenda in a multi-site environment.
  • Exceptional employee relations expertise, including experience managing complex investigations, high-risk cases and challenging employee relations matters.
  • Commercial acumen, with the ability to understand operational challenges, connect people initiatives to business outcomes and use insight to influence decision-making.
  • Confidence in challenging conversations – you’ll be resilient, pragmatic and comfortable constructively challenging leaders when needed.
  • A people-focused and solutions-driven approach, with the ability to build strong relationships, develop management capability and support teams to perform at their best.
  • A sound understanding of employment law, including employee relations procedures, disability, diversity and equal opportunities, alongside experience of change management and TUPE.
  • The ability to prioritise and deliver results, working autonomously and effectively in a fast-paced, geographically dispersed environment.
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent.
  • A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle, as regular travel across Scotland will be required.

Experience in health and social care is not essential. We welcome applications from experienced HR professionals from a range of sectors, particularly retail or other operational, multi-site environments, who can bring a fresh perspective, commercial awareness and a strong track record of partnering with leaders.

Above all, we’re looking for someone with the right character: someone who builds trust, shows resilience, embraces challenge and is passionate about helping people and teams succeed.

Why join Lifeways?

You’ll be joining an award-winning HR team that is committed to making a real difference across our organisation. We value our colleagues and invest in developing their skills through training, support and opportunities for progression.

Lifeways is on an exciting journey of growth and transformation. You’ll have the opportunity to be part of that journey, influence the direction of the regional people agenda and help shape the future of our services.

With a supportive HR team, a varied and influential role, and the autonomy to manage your own working week, this is an opportunity to make a genuine impact while continuing to develop your career.

If you’re an experienced HR Business Partner who enjoys a challenge, thrives on building strong relationships and wants to help drive meaningful change, we’d love to hear from you!

The Lifeways Group is an equal opportunities employer and is regulated by CQC in England, CIW in Wales and CI in Scotland.
