Communications Specialist – Help Shape Our Story

At Lifeways, one of the UK’s largest providers of support for adults with diverse and complex needs, we’re looking for a talented Communications Specialist who can craft engaging stories, build media relationships, and drive digital content that informs, inspires, and builds trust.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Shaping honest, powerful stories – Writing articles, case studies, and press releases that reflect both the challenges and impact of our work.
- Leading our external comms presence – Managing social media with content that’s authentic, informative and engaging.
- Bringing stories to life – Filming, editing, or producing videos and podcasts that connect with audiences.
- Securing coverage that matters – Pitching relevant stories, building relationships, and finding opportunities to represent Lifeways in the media.
- Supporting key publications – Helping to shape a narrative for our Annual Report and other flagship communications.
- Creating compelling visuals – Working with photography, video, and design tools to make our messaging stand out.
What We’re Looking For:
- A natural storyteller with a flair for writing content that connects.
- Someone with strong PR experience, who understands the importance of reputation, transparency and tone.
- A content creator who’s comfortable working across different formats—from web copy to video and audio.
- A confident communicator who can work with people at all levels, from frontline teams to senior leadership.
- Skilled in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools.
Your Experience:
- 5+ years in a similar communications, PR or media role.
- Strong writing and editorial skills with a portfolio to show.
- Understanding of how to navigate communications in complex or sensitive environments.
- A full driving licence—because stories don’t just happen at HQ.
Bonus Points If You:
- Have worked in health, social care, public or not-for-profit sectors.
- Can turn a complex issue into a clear, compelling narrative.
- Have experience managing crisis comms or sensitive media inquiries.
